9/11 World Trade Center Steel of Remembrance
A Legacy Forged in Steel: Honoring the 25th Anniversary of 9/11
The Steel of Remembrance initiative is a 9/11 tribute, coordinated by the CELL in partnership with community organizations from across Colorado as we reflect on the 25th Anniversary of September 11.
These partners serve as Guardians, entrusted with pieces of World Trade Center steel to preserve these historic artifacts through installations, honor those we lost, and help carry the history and lessons of September 11 forward for future generations.
Through this initiative, the CELL honors the steadfast American spirit of courage and unity, while preserving a tangible link to the human stories of 9/11 and providing a space for reflection, education, and dialogue.
Guardians of the Steel
Partners across Colorado have been selected to serve as Guardians of the steel, including organizations representing public safety, the military, education, civic institutions, and community organizations.
Each Guardian is entrusted with preserving and displaying the steel in a meaningful and enduring way that connects its community to the history and lessons of September 11. Steel of Remembrance artifacts are available for public viewing statewide with the following Guardians:
Additional pieces will be placed as Guardians prepare meaningful, enduring displays in their communities.
Remember, Reflect, and Learn
Pay tribute in your community
Visit the Steel of Remembrance and take time to remember those we lost, honor those who served, and reflect on the lessons of September 11. Families, students, community groups, and individuals are encouraged to visit these artifacts and help carry their history forward.
Learning Through Remembrance
The CELL looks forward to working with Guardians to explore educational resources and programming that can help families, students, and communities engage with Steel of Remembrance and the history these artifacts represent.
More information will be available soon.
Visit the CELL Exhibit
World Trade Center steel is permanently displayed at the CELL Exhibit in downtown Denver. Visitors can reflect on the artifact while exploring the history of terrorism, violent extremism, and the security challenges that continue to shape our world.
With Gratitude
Thank you to Peter A. Kudla and the Mizel Institute Board, whose support helped us bring these historic artifacts to Denver, and to Duffy Crane and Hauling for transporting them to communities across Colorado.
