Open Positions
The Marketing & Communications Manager leads the planning and execution of communications and marketing efforts that increase awareness, engagement, event participation, and stakeholder connection across the CELL’s programs and initiatives.
This hands-on role is responsible for turning organizational priorities into clear, compelling communications, including content, campaigns, digital engagement, event promotion, media outreach, and brand-consistent materials. Working closely with senior leadership, program staff, development colleagues, and external vendors, the Marketing & Communications Manager helps ensure the CELL’s message is timely, consistent, and engaging across audiences and channels.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer, thoughtful storyteller, and organized project manager who can manage details, timelines, and stakeholder input while keeping the larger communications strategy in view. They are intellectually curious, able to quickly learn complex subject matter, and comfortable communicating about issues that require nuance, accuracy, and thoughtful audience engagement. This is a hybrid position based in Denver, with regular in-office and event-related responsibilities.

The Community Engagement & Outreach Specialist serves as a key ambassador for the CELL, building relationships that increase awareness, attendance, educational participation, and community engagement. This role is responsible for developing partnerships, recruiting group visits, promoting educational programming, and representing the CELL throughout the community.
The ideal candidate is a natural connector who thrives on meeting new people, building partnerships, and inspiring others to engage. You are equally comfortable speaking to a classroom, boardroom, or community group and are energized by work that creates meaningful impact. This is a hybrid position based in Denver, with regular in-office and event-related responsibilities.

Internship Opportunities
Are you a college student, graduate or post-grad who is passionate about national security and helping to enhance public safety? Are you looking for a meaningful, exciting and challenging internship that will make a difference in how the public understands today’s threats? Then we want to hear from you!
Participating in a CELL internship is a great way to gain professional experience in both the national security and museum fields, practice specialized skills and learn from mentors with a variety of backgrounds. CELL interns play a critical role in the operations and development of CELL programs, events and offerings. Internship opportunities are available in the fall, spring and summer, depending on department need.
Past interns have gone on to pursue careers in academics, public service and government agencies, including the Department of State, the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Most CELL internships are open to anyone currently pursuing their post-secondary pathway, including undergraduates, graduate students and persons seeking a professional certificate or an associate degree. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds and perspectives who are interested in working for a mission-driven nonprofit committed to education and access.
Paid CELL internships are available; we also offer academic credit. The CELL works with interns to complete all necessary forms to receive credit, but interns are responsible for making all appropriate arrangements with their schools.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers serve in multiple roles at the CELL, and responsibilities may vary depending on need. Some typical duties include:
- Welcome guests to the exhibit and assist them in planning and organizing their visit
- Help facilitate tours of the exhibit
- Prepare groups for educational programs
- Serve as the final touchpoint for guests before they leave the exhibit
- Support CELL national security events

The CELL is looking for partner agencies to join us for exciting grant-based initiatives. We need your help!
The CELL was awarded Colorado’s Preventing Identity-Based Violence Program (PIVP) grant to develop a new educational program that builds awareness for the prevention of identity-based violence (IBV) within Colorado communities. This new program will consist of two complementary components: (1) an expert speaker event series open to the public and (2) an associated interactive multimedia educational program and curriculum to provide supplemental content to visitors at the exhibit as well as Coloradans across the state.
The CELL is implementing an educational program, the Community Awareness Identity-Based Violence Program (CAIVP), to build awareness for the prevention of identity-based violence (IBV) within Colorado communities and to strengthen communication and collaboration between Colorado citizens and state and local public safety officials. The CAIVP consists of two complimentary components: (1) a series of expert training events open to the public and (2) an interactive multimedia education program designed for a wide audience within Colorado.
The objectives of this project are:
- Embedding English language closed captions into three CELL-provided (25-40 minute) videos for our multimedia educational program.
- Embedding Spanish language closed captions into three CELL-provided (25-40 minute) videos for our multimedia educational program.
- The deliverables are six total videos, of which three will have English language closed captions and three will have Spanish language closed captions.
