Anti-Defamation League

The Anti-Defamation League was founded in 1913 “to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all.” Now the nation’s premier civil rights/human relations agency, ADL fights anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, defends democratic ideals and protects civil rights for all. The organization provides research and information about extremist groups (motivated by diverse ideologies) in the United States to policy makers, law enforcement professionals and the public.

Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)

Founded in 1962, at the height of the Cold War, as a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding ways for America to sustain its prominence and prosperity in the world. Today, the center is one of the most prominent think tanks in the world. It provides strategic insights and policy solutions to decisionmakers in government, international institutions, the private sector, and the greater public.

Council on Foreign Relations

Founded in 1921, The Council on Foreign Relations is an independent, nonpartisan think tank, membership organization and publisher. It maintains an online library of scholarly research and analysis, and educates government officials, business executives, journalists and the greater public on some of the most pressing foreign policy issues of our time.

American Islamic Congress

The American Islamic Congress (AIC) is a non-religious civic initiative working to promote moderation, interfaith understanding, gender equality and peace. Founded after September 11, 2001, it runs numerous programs around the world designed to challenge widely held stereotypes and promote non-violence.

Foundation for the Defense of Democracy (FDD)

The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD) is a nonpartisan policy institute dedicated to promoting pluralism, defending democratic values, and fighting the ideologies that drive terrorism. It was founded shortly after September 11, 2001 by a group of philanthropists and policy makers. It maintains an online library of research and reports on many of the issues affecting democracies in their fight against terrorism.

RAND

Established in 1964, RAND is an international think tank working to improve policy and decisionmaking through research and analysis of both domestic and international issues. It provides world-class analysis and information in the areas of national security, public safety, and terrorism and homeland security.

The Jamestown Foundation

The Jamestown Foundation is a nonpartisan organization designed to educate policy makers and the broader policy community about events and trends in countries around the world that are strategically important to the United States and frequently restrict access to such information. It provides news and analysis about the threat of global terrorism.

Federation of American Scientists (FAS)

Scientists who worked on the Manhattan Project to develop the first atomic bombs founded the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) in 1945. These scientists recognized science had become central to many key public policy questions. FAS provides scholarly research and analysis for policy makers and the general public about the potential dangers and benefits from new scientific knowledge and technical advances in multiple fields.

International Institute for Counter-Terrorism

Founded in 1996, the International Policy Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) is a leading academic institution. It is an independent think tank providing expertise in terrorism, counter-terrorism, homeland security, threat vulnerability and risk assessment, intelligence analysis and national security and defense policy. ICT also serves as a joint forum for international policymakers and scholars to share information and expertise through research papers, situation reports and academic publications for worldwide distribution.
